To all members and guests;

WELCOME TO THE 2008 SEASON AT LGCC

May 1, 2008

On behalf of General Manager John Mullock, Professional John Hastie, Course Superintendent Stu McMillan, Executive chef Keith Farrell, our staff and the entire board of directors I want to welcome you to a new season at Lively Golf & Country Club.

Its been a few months since most of us have swung a club and so we are all probably champing at the bit.

I took a tour of the course with Stu last week and overall it is in pretty good shape for the beginning of the season.

Potential temporary pins may be required on a couple of greens because of some winter distress, but overall Stu is optimistic about the season ahead.

He assures me we will complete the sand trap renovation project this year and finish the work around 15 bridge, started late last fall.

I think it is an improvement that hopefully will be viewed in a favourable light by the membership.

Other than that no major projects are on the books for the current season.

In other news, I have formed a sub committee of the board to look at “Long Term and Strategic Planning”. Its members include Treasurer Alan Holm, Ladies’ Chair Bonnie Ewing, Course Chair Bob Hreljac, Junior Co-Chair Jean-Luc Lacelle and I.

We are looking for actionable items to deal with such issues as: Profitability, Long Term Debt, Development of new grassroots Member-driven events, Member-visitor experience and Communication.

You will see some changes immediately. Some issues need research and fine tuning.

But in the end we are all looking to make LGCC a better club.

If you have any suggestions in that direction, please drop a note in the Suggestion box, send an email or touch base with a board member if you are interested in participating in this endeavor.

Yours in golfing, Gord Nicholls,  President LGCC

 From the Vice President:

Just a thank you to all the members that volunteered in the last 5 years. With all the little and major jobs you have helped with you sure made your course the best in Ontario. So once again thanks for making my past position on the board as Course Chair enjoyable. Our new Course Chair Bobby Hreljac is a great guy and I hope you support him as you did me.Now that I have moved up to VP Suite I still want to play golf with all the old members.

A special greeting to the new members - maybe you can help me with my golf game.

Thanks for all your support again,

Take care Chuck Connelly
