WELCOME TO THE 2008 SEASON AT LGCC
May
1, 2008
On behalf of General Manager John
Mullock, Professional John Hastie, Course Superintendent Stu McMillan, Executive
chef Keith Farrell, our staff and the entire board of directors I want to
welcome you to a new season at Lively
Golf & Country Club.
Its been a few months since most of us have
swung a club and so we are all probably champing at the bit.
I took a tour of the course with Stu last week
and overall it is in pretty good shape for the beginning of the season.
Potential temporary pins may be required on a
couple of greens because of some winter distress, but overall Stu is optimistic
about the season ahead.
He assures me we will complete the sand trap
renovation project this year and finish the work around 15 bridge, started late
last fall.
I think it is an improvement that hopefully
will be viewed in a favourable light by the membership.
Other than that no major projects are on the
books for the current season.
In other news, I have formed a sub committee of the board to look at
“Long Term and Strategic Planning”. Its members include Treasurer Alan Holm,
Ladies’ Chair Bonnie Ewing, Course Chair Bob Hreljac, Junior Co-Chair Jean-Luc
Lacelle and I.
We are looking for actionable items to deal
with such issues as: Profitability, Long Term Debt, Development
of new grassroots Member-driven events, Member-visitor experience and
Communication.
You will see some changes immediately. Some
issues need research and fine tuning.
But in the end we are all looking to make LGCC a better club.
If you have any suggestions in that direction,
please drop a note in the Suggestion box, send an email or touch base with a
board member if you are interested in participating in this endeavor.
Yours in golfing,
Gord Nicholls
